The village was first mentioned in a record of 1350, although it probably existed before then. Originally the village made part of the Šternberk dominion. The centre of this dominion, the Šternberk castle (whose ruins are called Štamberk nowadays) was destroyed by the army of the followers of Jan Hus in 1423, so that the village, after various ownership changes, was made part of Mrákotín in 1580. According to the famous book of Jan Tiray (Moravian Geography, from 1913) in 1580 the village had ”just 4 estate owners: Václav Pejčoch, Ambrož, Budek and Blažek.” and ”During the 30 Years War there were: Hamerník, Budek, Hrádek and Pejčoch”.
Although it doesn´t have the obliged shape, with farm houses all around, we call this place the village green...
As it is a habit at the Czech countryside to name houses after the families living there, quite recently our house was still called ”U Pejčochů”. That is why we can safely say that the house exists for over 400 years.
Today Lhotka is an independent village with about 90 inhabitans. There is a restaurant, grocer’s shop, household goods shop, a summer public camp site and our accommodation.
winter at its best...
