Your Hosts

My name is Filip, I am 6 years old and I am going to tell you something about our family: I go to the nursery school in Mrákotín. I have three friends there, Jeník (little Jhon), Štěpánka (Stephany) and Lukáš. There are more children there, but they are not from Lhotka. Last year there were also Robin and Tommy, but they go to school now. I will go too, after the summer holidays.

I have got a brother Tomáš, he is 12 years old and attends school in Telč. He also goes to the modelling and to the electricity clubs. He has made an aeroplane of balsa wood and a buzzer.

I also have four cousins, Kája (Charles), Honza, Fanda and Hana. Hana is the eldest and Fanda the youngest. They are from Jihlava. Sometimes we go there and drive with their big John Deer tractor. More often they visit us, at Sundays or during some holidays, and then we play in the sand or hide for each other or when there are still other children from the village, we may play football.

My mother Dana works in our shop in Mrákotín. Every day she helps Tomáš making his homework and she takes care of us and of the guests. Sometimes she goes to some course for talking English or to some exercises.

My grandfather Standa goes often out, walking in the woods with his gun and with Kača. Kača is the hunting dog. He also likes to listen the radio (grandfather), especially the brass music of the channel of České Budějovice. When he has time, he makes benches. He also made a benche for me, a small one so that I can reach the floor with my feet.

My one will be smaller and probably red, so that I can recognise it

He does not like cats, of which we had about five last year. Grandmother Mařenka likes cats and feeds them, so that they will not be hungry. She also feeds the chicken, sixteen of them. I help her collecting the eggs and sometimes, when she has enough eggs, she sells them.

My uncle Pavel also lives here with us. He is a black smith but does not often carry out this profession, because he takes care of the sheep end the honeybees. But he has a workshop and even an enormous mechanic hammer. The hammer does not function...

the sheep are behind the fence and cannot escape

OWe have about 80 sheep, Suzan, Pepin, Snow-white, Romana and the others I don´t remember. In winter I feed them with uncle Pavel. We throw down hay through a hole in the ceiling. Sometimes I go to the bees but not too often, because they sting. In summer they give us honey, later on we have to feed them with sugar.

granny likes this photograph because we are all there

...and granny also grows flowers

... in the winter I have made a tunnel with my brother

... and I like tractors

... and mummy always catches me...

in summer we like the wigwam

... and uncle knows how to do almost everything

... I have quite a lot of these mud-pies

... the neighbour always laughs that daddy, although being an engineer, drives the tractor quite well.
